liquidation price alert — every coin, every venue

a $100,000 BTC long at 20x on bybit is liquidated at $80,127, 4.67% below entry.

how it's computed

that's entry × (1 − 1/leverage + mmr), and mmr isn't a constant — it's what your venue's bracket charges at your notional, 0.33% to 5.00% across the coins here. same 20x long, different venue, different liq price.

what a liquidation price actually is

BTC at 20x on bybit: liq 4.67% below entry. doubling the leverage more than halves that room.

liq$80,127alert$82,014entry$84,0534.67% of room · $3,925

the exchange closes you when equity drops under maintenance margin — a rate the venue publishes by size, and the one term you don't choose. for a long: $84,053 × (1 − 1/20 + 0.0033) = $80,127 on the BTC example.

the bracket follows notional, not leverage, and notional moves with price: a winning long can grow into a higher bracket, and the liq walks toward the mark with nothing to announce it.

the trigger reads the venue's mark — an index of several spot venues — not the last perp trade. a 3% wick on one book with the index flat leaves you alone; a 3% drag in the index takes you out.

isolated or cross — this page models isolated

isolated fixes the liq when you open. cross floats it with your wallet; treat the isolated number as the nearest liq.

isolated has an answer from outside: the position's own margin is the whole buffer, so entry, leverage and bracket fix the liq the moment you open. every number on these pages is that case.

cross doesn't: the wallet backs the position, so the line moves with your balance, your other positions' pnl and any deposit. the isolated number is where the engine could reach you if the rest of the wallet were empty.

and a cross liquidation walks through the wallet, including the positions you were right about. keep more room than the isolated number asks for.

brackets read from www.binance.com and api.bybit.com and www.okx.com and api.hyperliquid.xyz, verified 2026-09-23; the first five brackets per symbol are stored, so a position past the last one pays more than the table shows. venues revise brackets without notice — the leaf calculators re-read the same table at your size.

every venue publishes its own bracket table, and they aren't the same table. the widest split at $100,000 is BNB: 5.00% maintenance on hyperliquid against 0.60% on binance — 4.40% of entry.

room = 1/leverage − mmr, so the whole gap lands in the distance. it's a rate, so it scales with size: $440 of room on a $10,000 position, $4,400 on $100,000.

the leverage column is a ceiling, not a cost: at $100,000 of BNB, binance still allows 50x while hyperliquid caps you at 10x, so the same size can't be opened the same way everywhere.

what this number can't tell you

nobody exits at the liq: the fill lands worse, funding walks it closer, and one wick is enough. arm the alert.

your fill. liquidation is a market order into the book that just moved against you, plus the venue's liquidation fee — worse than the price on this page, and worst in the conditions that got you there.

the rent. on isolated margin every funding payment comes out of the position's margin, so the liq walks toward the mark while the chart does nothing: a week at 0.01% per 8h is 0.21% of notional, against 4.67% of room on the BTC example.

the path. the level only has to be touched once, by one wick on the venue's index, and a cascade can cover a 4–5% buffer in a minute. the arithmetic here is free; what's worth having is being told before price gets there.

faq

which of these three calculators do i actually need?

with a position already on, this one: the distance to the liq decides whether you survive the next wick. before entering, size first — a correctly sized position usually takes care of its own liq distance — and price the hold on the funding page if you'll carry it for days.

which venue leaves more room at the same leverage?

the one charging the lower maintenance rate at your notional, and the gap is exactly the difference: 0.60% against 5.00% on BNB at $100,000, worth $4,400 of room. where two venues open at nearly the same first-bracket rate, the gap at retail size is cents and the fills matter more.

why does my exchange show a different liquidation price than this page?

biggest first: you're on cross and it can see a wallet this page can't; you added margin, or another position's pnl is backing this one; or your live notional sits in a different bracket than the size you typed. past that a few tenths of a percent is normal, and theirs is the one that fires.

do i need an account, an api key, or a wallet connection?

none of the three. the arithmetic runs in your browser on what you type; the only thing fetched is the mark and funding rate in the table. an alert needs one channel — a telegram start, a push permission, an email. anything wanting exchange api keys to compute a liq price wants more than it needs.

is this accurate enough to trade on?

accurate enough to size with and to set a threshold on. the formula is the venue's and the maintenance rates are its own brackets, read 2026-09-23; the liquidation fee, index composition and margin accrued since you opened land in the tenths of a percent. not accurate enough to plan an exit at: nobody exits at the liq price.

does this cover coin-margined or inverse contracts?

no. every bracket here is the usdt-m linear table, margin and pnl both in usdt. on an inverse contract collateralised in the coin itself your margin moves with the thing you're long, so the distance isn't symmetric and a linear formula understates the downside. use the venue's own tool for those.
