6 min read · real margin brackets · no signup

how it's computed

this page runs entry × (1 − 1/leverage + mmr) against Bybit's real bracket for that size (0.50% mmr), not a flat guess, and arms the alert before the wick gets there.

the short version

how to use this tool

type an entry, drag the leverage, pick a side. the number above is the price where the exchange force-closes you — computed with the venue's actual maintenance-margin brackets, not a flat 0.5% guess. no signup, no api key, nothing leaves your browser except the mark price you asked for.

how this number is computed

your leverage and Bybit's maintenance rate for your size set the room; lower the leverage to widen it.

this page models isolated margin: liq = entry × (1 − 1/leverage + mmr) for longs, entry × (1 + 1/leverage − mmr) for shorts. mmr comes from Bybit's bracket table for SOL, picked by your position's notional.

on cross margin the whole wallet is the buffer, so the real liq floats with your balance — treat this number as the closest the engine could reach you. estimate — exchanges compute exact liq from live margin; always double-check on your venue.

you're long SOL at $118.15, 25x, $1,000 notional. Bybit charges 0.50% maintenance margin at that size: $118.15 × (1 − 1/25 + 0.005) = $114.02.

that's $4.14 of room — 3.50%. solana runs about 2.6% between its high and its low on a normal day, 5.5% on the widest measured one. a 2.5% stop sits just outside that noise, and at 20x a single ordinary day against you is already 51% of the margin behind the position. funding at the example rate costs $0.90 a day on this size, and on isolated margin it comes out of that same room.

Bybit's SOL margin brackets, in words

bigger positions pay a higher maintenance rate, which pulls the liq closer at the same leverage.

bybit's SOL table opens at 0.50% maintenance margin with 100x on offer, and that first step holds all the way to $50,000 notional. above it the rate steps to 0.56%, leverage caps at 90x, and that bracket runs to $100,000.

the bracket follows notional, so a winning position can grow into a higher one. this page stores Bybit's first 5 brackets for SOL and holds the last rate flat past them — check very large sizes on the venue itself.

bybit's book is deep enough that liqs clear in one print during normal hours, but it's also historically where the wickiest candles show up in thin weekend conditions — the 2021-era stop hunts were mostly bybit tape.

Solana specifics

leave room for Solana's normal wick, not its average day.

solana grinds rather than wicks: 2.6% of minute-to-minute movement under a 2.6% typical day. a whole session takes accounts out here, not one candle. $75M across 7795 forced closes in 7 days, none over 2% of it: attrition, not one event, split 61%/39% long/short.

a stop loss is not a liquidation plan

the wick through your liq is what kills you. the alert reaches you while you can still act.

forced liquidations are market orders into the book that just moved against you, so the fill lands worse than the trigger. and leverage creeps: 5x becomes 10x after a win, and each time you double it the room more than halves.

a stop only triggers, and in a cascade it fills into the same wick as the engine. the alert fires earlier, while you can still close at a real price or add margin and push the liq away. free, no signup.

binance vs bybit vs hyperliquid vs okx for this coin

same position, different venue, different liq: the lower maintenance rate at your size is free room.

on SOL the first bracket is not the same trade on every venue: okx runs 0.40% to $576,900 at 100x, hyperliquid 2.50% to $70,000,000 at 20x. okx is the cheaper first bracket by 2.10% of entry on the same position.

faq

is this liquidation price exact?

no — it's the isolated-margin approximation with your venue's real mmr brackets: liq = entry × (1 − 1/leverage ± mmr). exchanges also deduct liquidation fees and use their own index price, so their number can differ by a few tenths of a percent. estimate — exchanges compute exact liq from live margin; always double-check on your venue.

what's the difference between isolated and cross margin here?

isolated margin risks only the position's collateral; cross margin risks the whole wallet. the formula on this page is the isolated estimate. on cross, your real liq floats with your wallet balance — the more spare balance you hold, the further away liquidation sits, and this page can't see your wallet.

why did my liquidation price move after i opened the position?

mmr brackets are chosen by notional. if your position's value crossed a bracket boundary — because price moved or because you added size — the maintenance rate changed, and the liq price moved with it. check your bracket after any size change.

i already have a stop loss — why do i need a liquidation alert?

a stop loss is a pre-committed exit; the alarm is the room you have left to decide. three things a stop can't do: in a cascade your stop fills as a market order into the wick — at 20x+ the exchange's liquidation engine can fill first, with the insurance-fund fee on top. it can't tell you a funding debit just moved your liq closer. and it can't watch the book at 3am. closing early at a real price — or adding margin to push the liq away — beats being force-closed, and both need the warning, not the trigger. keep the stop. arm the alarm so the exit stays your choice.

can i get an alert before price nears my liquidation price?

yes — that's the point of the site. under the number there's an alert gate: set the distance (e.g. scream at me if btc gets within 3% of my liq) and pick telegram, web push, or email. free tier is 2 active alerts, no card, no api keys.

why do two venues show different liq prices for the same trade?

different mmr bracket tables, different fee models, different mark-price composition. the same 20x btc long can carry 0.4% mmr in one bracket and 0.5% in another — run the same size through each venue's page on this site and compare; the gap is the cost of choosing the wrong venue.
